Senior Discounts You Should Know About

Your golden years come with perks that allow you to enjoy discounts at your favorite restaurants, grocery stores and retail stores and on leisure activities. Along with these savings, there are also opportunities that are completely free, from taking college courses to admission to national parks. The good news is that many of these benefits begin long before your 65th birthday. As a rule of thumb, it is always a good idea to ask whether there is a senior discount before you buy something. Otherwise, you may be missing out on savings. Even if the store does not offer a senior discount, be sure to take advantage of any rewards programs it has. You can also join AARP when you turn 50 and start enjoying the discounts that come with that membership.

Below is a sampling of discounts and freebies you can start enjoying right away. They may change from time to time, so be sure to check back.

Use the Internet

More education

To keep your mind sharp, you may want to go back to school. Happily, many colleges offer free classes you can audit without the worry of doing homework or taking exams. Some colleges even offer degree programs at no cost. Check with your local college to see what class options are available to you. This is a great opportunity to explore an interest, learn a new language or complete a degree.

As the saying goes, “with age comes wisdom.” What could be wiser than to take advantage of discounts exclusively for seniors? Always remember to find out whether there is a senior discount before you make a purchase. It never hurts to ask.
